Extra Fifth Engineer: Robert Millar

(7 July 1885 - 1912)

Born at Alloa, Clackmannanshire. Educated at Burgh and Sunnyside Public Schools. Served his apprenticeship with Archibald, Jeffry & Sons, of Alloa. Subsequent employment was obtained with the Argyll Motor Works, Alexandria, N.B. and at the Wallsend Slipway & Engineering Company. Went to sea aboard the Johannesburg owned by Bucknell Steamship Line and after obtaining his second class engineer`s certificate he served aboard that company`s vessel Katuna. Obtained his first class certificate in 1909 and joined White Star the following year. Sailed aboard Olympic before transferring to Titanic.



Senior Sixth Engineer: William Young Moyes

(1889-1912)

Aged 23 years. Educated at Stirling High School and served his apprenticeship with David Rowan & Co. of Glasgow. Joined White Star and served for a few months aboard Oceanic before joining Titanic.
